5. Boyd Varty: What I learned from Nelson Mandela – South Africa
Boyd Varty, a wildlife activist and storyteller who shares stories of animals, humans and their interrelatedness, or “ubuntu”. 4. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – We Should All Be Feminists
Chimamanda Adichie is an award winning Nigerian Novelist, while some might know her as the writer of the novel ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ which was adapted into a film of the same title starring Chiwetel Ejifor and Thandie Newton… Others might have heard her on Beyonce’s hit song ‘Flawless’, where parts of this specific TEDTalk speech was sampled. In this awesome TEDTalk video she talks about her different experiences of sexism growing up in Nigeria and how it has effected her life, as well as discusses why feminism is still important and why each and everyone of us should be a feminist.
3. Komla Dumor – “Telling the African Story” – GHANA
Komla Dumor was one of the most recognised journalists at the British Broadcasting Corporation. Born in Accra, Ghana where Mr. Dumor was named journalist of the year in 2003 for his investigations into public sector corruption. He died after a cardiac arrest in 2014, and since then his family was presented with a special posthumous Founders Award from the Association for International Broadcasting on his behalf, as well as being honoured at the 2014 African Achievers Awards with a posthumous award for Excellence in Broadcasting
In this TEDTalk video, Mr. Dumor draws from his experiences working for the BBC, and attempts to sheds some light on way the African continent is seen and portrayed, expressing the need for a balanced and honest approach in the telling and retelling of the African narrative.

2. Kelvin Doe at TEDxTeen
Kelvin Doe also known as DJ Focus, Sierra Leanean engineering prodigy who taught himself engineering at the age of 13, building his own radio station in Sierra Leone where he plays and broadcasts music and news.
He was one of the finalist in GMin’s innovate Salone idea competition where he built a generator from scrap metals, after which he received an invitation to United States where he went on to be the youngest person to participate in the “Visiting Practitioner’s Program” at MIT.
