Forget everything you’ve heard about how to make it in the music business. Some people swear by easing into the scene with a mixtape. Then you graduate to releasing an EP. Then, you release more tracks and work on an album before you can even dream of having a concert. Well, Mr. Eazi did things his way and without an EP, a mixtape or an album – he just sold out his first concert in Lagos.
On Wednesday night, Landmark Event center was filled to the brim with fans of the ‘Hollup’ singer waiting to watch Mr. Eazi and his friends perform their favorite tracks. With ‘friends’ like Phyno, Efya, Reminisce, Aje Butter and Falz the Bahd Guy – it’s no wonder why the concert was completely sold out. The energy in the air was palpable as the crowd sang along to their favorite tracks and literally went wild when Falz came on stage with 20 dancers dressed in black to perform a few songs including ‘Bad baddo baddest’.
The highlight of the night however, was when Mr. Eazi took the stage in his signature raffia hat to perform his hit tracks that have arguably become anthems for 2016. He entertained the guests with intermittent monologues talking about his journey as an artist, his success and hilariously ‘blessing’ fans in the audience praying for them to find husbands in 2017 and showing his fit fam skills by doing push ups on stage.
To round off an epic show, Ghanian singer, Efya joined Mr. Eazi on stage to perform their hit track – Skin tight. Mr. Eazi (who had lost his jacket and hat by then after adorably handing it to a little boy who he lifted from the audience) and Efya shared a hug at the end of an electric performance – giving a brand new meaning to the word ‘skintight’.
